The Old Barn

At the back of the orchard, our blooms frame our neighbor’s century-old barn once used for grain storage, old grain hoops having been discovered there.

A local story says it was a Dutch settlers dairy, as old wooden stanchions still exist. Today, it hovers there on dark nights, in a solitary stance, a haven for barn owls who don’t invite us in.
